Distance Calculation & Test Parameters

Formulas:
• Froude Number: Fn = vmax / √(g × LWL), where g = 9.8 m/s²
• Maximum Test Speed Limit: vtmax = 3 × LH + 24 (limited to 70 knots max)
• Distance calculation:
  - For speeds ≤ 30 knots: D = 6 × LH
  - For speeds > 30 knots: D = 6 × LH + (0.1 × LH + 1.2) × (V - 30)
Where V is the lower of vmax or vtmax, LH is hull length, and LWL is waterline length.

Important: This standard only applies to craft with Froude number (Fn) ≥ 1.1. If Fn < 1.1, this test method is not applicable. The waterline length (LWL) is needed for accurate Froude number calculation.
Note: If the craft passes at ≥85% of vmax/vtmax but fails at 100%, warning labels and owner's manual information are required per Clause 4.5.
⚠ Safety Warning: Test speed shall not exceed vtmax of 70 knots maximum. Begin tests at low speed and increase incrementally.
